B5 ACTA : Campaign Manager

In the Beginning...

Hey all, welcome to the site!

Over the next months our gaming group will be running a campaign game of A Call to Arms by Mongoose Publishing. We are all quite active players and thought it would be cool to write up a few reports (and take a few pictures) of our battles to promote the game and well...cause some of us have far too much free time on our hands as well ;)

We shall be trying to complete a full campaign turn every three to four weeks although the occasional gaming weekend may speed that up considerably so stay tuned for updates!

Players

We've been lucky enough to find several regular players (and some occasional ones too) that live in our area of Hampshire/Surrey (Aldershot, Farnborough, Mytchett and Bordon) in the UK. You may recognise some of them from the Mongoose forums...

Adam (Centauri)

Adam is perhaps the most sensible and easy going amongst all of us...mainly because he has not been corrupted by the evil internet and the tool of the dark side that is otherwise known as, "the ACTA forums". Adam has chosen Centauri for his race choice which are renowned for their heavily armoured and armed ships although they can lack the mobility of other races. They have some phenomenal RAID and BATTLE level ships especially some of their variant ship designs, making the former "Lion of the Galaxy" a formidable opponent keen to once more take their rightful place in the galaxy.

Burger (ISA)
Burger is a seasoned ACTA admiral having commanded several fleets in his time including Minbari, ISA, and Drazi. He has selected ISA for this campaign, with the iconic White Star a solid choice at RAID level, hoping the new White Star Carrier and Gunship released in Armageddon will give him the tactical edge and flexibility in the games to come. If not there is always the, “my dodge will save me” strategy to fall back on. While this may not be the most tactically sound assumption, his domestic record remains impressive and we are generally in awe of his ability to instantly recall obscure rulings from the ACTA forums. He also maintains a Ship viewer for the ACTA Armageddon supplement that you can see in our links section.

Hash (Shadows)
Hash is often mocked (unfairly!) by the others as unable to field a "proper" fleet and so has to rely on the super-manoeuvrability and superior technology of the Ancient race known as the Shadows to achieve victory. To prove them wrong he has searched the fleet lists...and chose Shadows to prove one and for all he can use a proper fleet...ok maybe the others are right! While the Shadows may indeed be an unusual fleet to use, they are nevertheless a deadly enemy at higher priority levels with the dreaded Shadow Ship serving as an ARMAGEDDON level reminder of the unbridled power of the Ancients. Hash is the author of this website and several (okay maybe two) battle reports on the Mongoose forums...he also finds it weird to write about himself in the third person.

Reaverman (Narn)
Reaverman has an excellent tournament track record having been victorious with both Vorlons and Narn although to be (un?)fair this can be mainly attributed to using “cheat codes”, bribery, threats, and most of all, luck! He has selected the Narn "Bat Squad" for this campaign which include an excellent array of SKIRMISH vessels as well as a strong WAR choice in the form of the Bin'Tak. Reaverman is also renowned for possessing rare artefacts known as, THE DICE OF DOOM” which he picked up from Salute 2006. In his spare time, Reaverman enjoys spending time near alpha emitters and of course, reading up on evolution and plotting to destroy the great "source of lies" that he prefers to call Wikipedia.

Tank (Earth Alliance - Early Era)
What stories can be told about the mighty Tank? This hockey playing, miniature loving, long lost brother (clone surely?) to Eddie Izzard has had a rather unusual amount of "bad luck" with dice although we suspect it may have something to do with his tendency to throw them around the room if they displease him...which is nearly every time he makes a roll. Tank has selected an EA fleet for the Early Era period, limiting his selection of warships but he can take advantage of the Sagittarius Missile Cruiser, considered perhaps the hardest punching ship in its priority level SKIRMISH. His lack of advanced warships however may prove to be somewhat of a problem in higher priority battles.

Setting

The campaign is fought over the resource rich system of Alderbordon which is described in more detail here...
